Activation

Two DNS records.
Five minutes. Done.

One small change at your domain provider and xcited automatically activates everything AI agents need to correctly find, understand, and cite you. No plug-in. No developer. No changes to your site.

Record 01 · CNAME
Type:CNAME
Name:aztrix.{domain}
Value:name.aztrix.io.
# Add to your provider's DNS panel
# (GoDaddy, Cloudflare, Combell, OVH, AWS Route 53, ...)

Xcited handles automatically:

  • HTTPS certificates
  • ai.json discovery-file
  • llms.txt manifest
  • robots.txt + sitemap.xml
  • .well-known/schema.json
  • Knowledge graph linked (Aztrix)

Add the CNAME record

Log in to the provider where you registered your domain or where your nameservers point. Open the DNS panel and add one new CNAME record. Below you'll find the exact steps for the most common providers.

Cloudflare
  1. Open your site in Cloudflare and go to the DNS · Records tab.
  2. Click Add record.
  3. Type: CNAME · Name: aztrix · Target: name.aztrix.io.
  4. Set Proxy status to DNS only (grey cloud). This is essential — proxied records will not work.
  5. Click Save.
Combell
  1. Log in to My Combell and go to Domain names → DNS management for the correct domain.
  2. Click Add record.
  3. Type: CNAME · Name: aztrix · Destination: name.aztrix.io. · TTL: 1h.
  4. Click Add and confirm.
OVH
  1. Open Web Cloud → Domain names → yourdomain → DNS zone.
  2. Click Add a record and choose CNAME.
  3. Subdomain: aztrix · TTL: default · Target: name.aztrix.io. (note the trailing dot — OVH requires it).
  4. Confirm in the next two steps.
GoDaddy
  1. Go to My Products → DNS for the correct domain.
  2. Click Add.
  3. Type: CNAME · Host: aztrix · Points to: name.aztrix.io. · TTL: 1 hour.
  4. Click Save.
Namecheap
  1. Go to Domain List → Manage for the correct domain.
  2. Open the Advanced DNS tab.
  3. Click Add new record. Type: CNAME · Host: aztrix · Value: name.aztrix.io. · TTL: Automatic.
  4. Click the green checkmark to save.
AWS Route 53
  1. Open your Hosted zone in Route 53.
  2. Click Create record.
  3. Record name: aztrix · Record type: CNAME · Value: name.aztrix.io.
  4. TTL: 300 · Routing policy: Simple routing.
  5. Click Create records.
Google Domains / Squarespace
  1. Open DNS settings → Custom records.
  2. Type: CNAME · Host: aztrix · Data: name.aztrix.io.
  3. Click Save.
Other provider (TransIP, IONOS, Hostnet, ...)
  1. Look in the control panel for DNS, Zone editor or Manage DNS records.
  2. Add a new record of type CNAME.
  3. Host or subdomain: aztrix.
  4. Destination, target or value: name.aztrix.io.
  5. Save. Something not working as expected? Send us a screenshot via myrequest@xcited.io and we'll take a look.
Always include the trailing dot: name.aztrix.io. (absolute domain name). Providers that don't need the dot will normalise it harmlessly; providers that do require it (Gandi, OVH, Hetzner and others) will silently create name.aztrix.io.{yourdomain} without it — which won't work. DNS propagation typically takes 1–15 minutes, but can be up to 24 hours.
02

Reference the sitemap in your robots.txt

Add one line to the robots.txt file on your main domain. This tells search engines and AI crawlers where to find the discovery files xcited generates for you.

# /robots.txt — add this line at the bottom
Sitemap: https://aztrix.{domain}/sitemap.xml
No separate website? Skip this step. Xcited already serves a complete robots.txt from your aztrix subdomain. This line is only needed if you have an existing site you want to explicitly link to the AI discovery layer.
03

Check that it works

Three quick checks, together under two minutes. This confirms everything is set up correctly before your first report arrives.

  1. Open your subdomain in a browser.

Go to https://aztrix.{yourdomain}. You'll see an xcited portal with your domain pre-filled and an initial readability score.

  2. Check a discovery file.

Open aztrix.{yourdomain}/llms.txt or aztrix.{yourdomain}/ai.json. You'll see structured information about your business — exactly as AI agents read it.

  3. Confirm the DNS link.

No terminal needed: go to dnschecker.org, enter aztrix.{yourdomain} and select record type CNAME. You'll see globally that it points to name.aztrix.io.

04

Something not working?

The five questions we get most often.

The subdomain shows a security warning or 404.
DNS may still be propagating. Wait 15 minutes and test again. Using Cloudflare with proxy enabled? Set the CNAME record to DNS only (grey cloud) — proxied records don't work with xcited because they strip SNI.
My provider says 'CNAME not allowed on root'.
Correct — you're not adding a CNAME to the root of your domain. The host must be aztrix (a subdomain), not @ or the bare domain name. Subdomain CNAMEs are universally supported by all providers.
I already have an 'aztrix' subdomain in use.
Choose a different host (for example ai, discover or cite) and email us at myrequest@xcited.io. We'll set up the alias. The CNAME target remains name.aztrix.io.
I don't have a website to add robots.txt to.
Skip step 2. Xcited already serves a complete robots.txt from the aztrix subdomain. Step 2 is only needed if you have an existing main site you want to explicitly link to the AI discovery layer.
I want a custom subdomain name instead of 'aztrix'.
A custom subdomain (e.g. xcited.{yourdomain}, ai.{yourdomain} or your own brand name) will become available as an optional upgrade later. It doesn't affect your visibility in AI agents — only the name in the URL. Let us know if you're interested; we'll plan it based on demand.
Prefer we handle it?

We activate xcited together with you in 15 minutes.

Schedule a short setup call. You give us access to your DNS panel — or connect us with the right person in your organisation — and we make the two changes together. Including a first check that everything is set up correctly. For founding members this is free of charge.

That's it. From here, xcited takes over.

Under the hood

Knowledge graph —
no schema snippets.

What most tools do

They add Schema.org snippets to individual pages. That helps — but AI models can't make connections between isolated data points.

What xcited does

Xcited uses a semantic knowledge graph (Powered by Aztrix) in which services, clients, expertises, regions and cases are described as entities with relationships. This structure makes it easy for AI agents to make connections, reason, and find answers to questions users ask.
